Summer Internship Program

This program is aimed to assist NASF corporate members in hiring talented college students to work at their company facilities in the summer. The Scholarship Committee will provide up to two awards per year in the amount of up to $5,000 per student (50% cost-sharing with the company). The program is operated using the following approach.

  • Only NASF corporate members can apply for the summer internship awards for students. Applications should be submitted to the AESF Foundation Headquarters at [email protected] and include AESF Summer Internship Program in the Subject. The application deadline is April 30, 2023. 
  • A corporate member must submit the following materials: (a) a letter from the company, stating the internship type, the duration of the internship, the stipend to be offered to the student, and a request of funds as the cost share from the AESF Foundation, (b) a copy of the CV of the proposed student, and (c) a copy of the student’s collage/university transcript. Note, all materials must be submitted as PDF attachments and sent in one email to AESF Foundation Headquarters at [email protected].
  • Each corporate member can receive no more than one summer internship award per year.
  • The minimum GPA requirement for the proposed student is 3.0 for an undergraduate student or 3.5 for a graduate student. Each student must have finished at least one year of study in a U.S. academic institution.
  • Each student must have a legal work permit in the U.S.
  • The Scholarship Committee will review applications and submit a list of recommended winners by April 1, 2023, and applicants will be notified within 7 business days.

Industrial Internship Program

This program is to provide seed research funds to university professors in order to hire students to conduct summer research on projects directly related to the surface finishing industry. The Scholarship Committee will provide up to two awards per year in the amount of up to $5,000 per student. The program is operated using the following approach.

  • Only university professors may apply for the student summer research awards.
  • Applications should be submitted to the AESF Foundation Headquarters at [email protected] and include AESF Summer Research ‎Program in the Subject. ‎The application deadline is April 30, 2023.
  • Each professor can receive no more than one student summer research award per year.
  • A university professor (of any rank) must submit the following materials: (a) a short proposal (up to 3 pages) that describes the type of research project, significance, and an anticipated outcome, and project duration), (b) a copy of the CV of the proposed student, and (c) a copy of the student’s college/university transcript. Note, all materials must be submitted as PDF attachments and sent in one email to AESF Foundation Headquarters at [email protected].
  • The minimum GPA requirement for the proposed student is 3.0 for an undergraduate student, and 3.5 for a graduate student. Each student must have finished at least two years of undergraduate study or at least one year of graduate study in a U.S. academic institution.
